THE FIVE ARROWS

The name of the hotel is derived from part of the Rothschild family coat of arms, the five arrows representing the five sons of Mayer Amschel Rothschild, the founder of the dynasty.

Accommodation
Each of the attractively decorated bedrooms at the Five Arrows has its en suite bath or shower, direct dial telephone, colour television and tea and coffee making facilities.

In the Courtyard Stables there are two suites, the Garden Room with its Victorian brass four poster bed, comfortable sitting room furniture and open fire, and the colourful Colonial Suite, which has a separate sitting room with a convertible sofa bed, making the suite ideal for family occupancy. Breakfasts can be served in the suites if required.

Food
Lunch or dinner at the Five Arrows is a relaxed, informal experience, with imaginative menus which are changed frequently. The style can best be described as a combination of traditional English foods and Mediterranean cuisine, using fresh, local produce and herbs from the hotel garden. Vegetarian dishes are always included and there is a tempting choice of puddings and home made ice cream. At lunchtime, in addition to the main menu, a selection of light snacks is available.

The Rothschild family's association with wine is reflected in a list which features vintages from Rothschild vineyards in Portugal and Chile, as well as the famous châteaux Lafite and Mouton in Bordeaux.
