Wednesday 15 July: Atila Husain sings "Frank Sinatra"
Atila has been described as the new Frank Sinatra and hotly tipped to be discovered in the same way as Jamie Cullum and hoisted to over-night stardom. He combines an extraordinary voice with great showmanship and an ease and poise which might make him equally at home as a Stand Up Comic or After Dinner speaker. His voice has a huge range and his sense of pitch is impeccable. But it is his musical phrasing which seems unusually effortless and compelling. Without guile or affectation his timing and the way he shapes a musical phrase is gripping and profoundly musical. Catch him before everyone else does! Wednesday 29 July: Anjali Perin sings "The Music of Sarah Vaughan and her contemporaries"
Anjali Perin is a special singer and pianist working full-time on the jazz and soul scene in London. She performs in many different styles but her first love is jazz. She likes to connect all the diverse musical influences she's had including South Indian Carnatic music and adores composing music and writing lyrics.
Her voice is exceptional. It has a freedom and passion that you might expect from someone who six years ago gave up a top lawyer's job in the city to devote herself to full time music. Her ability to improvise tastefully and genuinely express profound emotion with her voice is extraordinary and she is steeped in the tradition of great jazz singers but her voice also has it's own completely original and incandescent quality to it which excites and thrills all who hear her.
