Jonathan Betts, Curator of Horology at the National Maritime Museum will examine the history of clockwork automata and why clocks were created over the centuries. In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to view some of Waddesdon's many clocks more closely including the amazing Elephant automaton, two birdcage clocks with miniature organs and whistles that imitate bird song, the restored monumental Organ Clock and many other fascinating timepieces.
