PARTERRE AND CARPET BEDDING INITIATIVES
For generations the Rothschilds have been keen gardeners and are said to have been pioneers in the introduction of three-dimensional carpet bedding in the form of baskets and birds. It was therefore appropriate to reintroduce the art of carpet bedding at Waddesdon, as seen on the restored Parterre on the South side of the House.
In addition to highlighting the horticultural tradition of the Rothschilds, the carpet bedding, in its central position on the Parterre, serves as a link between the Collection and the Garden. The design of the main beds also reflect the changing displays in the House.
